Karla is the owner of KAPA Dance Music & Theater.

She has been in the performing arts field since 1974, and has been teaching the arts since 1981.


Karla has taken classes locally from Sally Mack, Terry Brock, Sam Webber, Mr. Richard Billings, MaryLouise Billings, Pat Heath, Bob Heath, Diane Tomasi-Zink, Kathleen Prichard, Jo Jo Hill, Brenda Buffilino, and many more. She has taken master classes with instructors through out the United States and Canada. She has had the opportunity to work with some of todays greatest choreographers.

 

Karla graduated from Academy One Modeling. She has modeled professionally for The Coat Rack, Petite Expressions, and Betsy Johnson to name a few.

 

She attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena CA, and Portland State University majoring in Business Marketing with a minor in Dance


She was Miss Oregon 20th Century 1985, and placed in the top 8 at Nationals in Anaheim CA. She won talent and interview at Nationals. She has written, directed, and produced several productions here in Oregon. She has done work with Portland Cable Access, KPTV Channel 12, KOIN Channel 6, various community theaters, and local school productions.

 

Karla is a member of Women in Film and is a past board member for the Las Vegas Chapter.  She was the Executive Director for the Miss Tri-Valley Scholarship Organization, a non profit organization providing scholarships to young women through the Miss America Program from 2007-2011 and has been involved with the Miss Oregon program on one level or another since 1985.

 

Karla has served on the Molalla Arts Commission (MAC) and volunteered with the Molalla PAL's and Communities that Care buy providing dance classes to their participants.  She served on the Molalla Main Street Promotional Committee.  Karla volunteered with the Molalla 2nd Friday event for 5 years and Directed the event its final 3 years. 

In 2018/2019 she choreographed the Molalla High School musical, The Wizard of Oz.
